Financial Assistance

Fee Reductions
Because of the generosity of our neighbors, especially those who contribute to the Capital Area United Way, the Foundation can offer most of its services based on the level of a client's household income. To apply for reduced fees, CLICK HERE to download the Application for Financial Assistance. Mail it with all requested documentation to BRSHF, Attention: Bookkeeper, 535 West Roosevelt Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 or hand deliver it to that address. Please note: you will be charged full fees for services you receive until you have written confirmation of reduction in fees from the BRSHF bookkeeper. (Fee reductions for hearing aids through this application are no greater than 50%. See Hear Now below for another option for financial assistance for purchase of hearing aids.)

Private Insurance
Some services provided by Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation are reimbursable through some private insurance plans.  However, coverage varies widely from plan to plan.  The Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation is a network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Currently, United Health Care’s Office of Group Benefits – State of Louisiana clients who are within the network are responsible for any co-payments, deductibles and any charges not covered by insurance.  Clients not within network are responsible for payment in full at the time services are rendered.  We will provide a receipt for you that includes the information necessary to fill for reimbursement with your insurance company.

Medicaid
If you are Medicaid eligible, your physician must FAX a Community Care Form to the Foundation at 225-343-4233, before any appointment can be scheduled. When you do come for your first appointment, don't forget to bring your current Medicaid card with you. Louisiana Medicaid covers speech/language and audiology services for persons up to age 21.

Early Steps
If you do not meet the financial eligibility standards for Medicaid coverage, but your child has a developmental delay, you may be eligible for services through Early Steps, Louisiana's Early Intervention Service for children from birth to three years of age. Ask the Clinical Supervisor or Audiologist about referral to Early Steps at the time of your child's evaluation.

Hear Now
The Hear Now program provides more substantial savings on hearing aids than The Foundation's Financial Assistance Plan, but it requires much more documentation. Go to www.sotheworldmayhear.org and click on Hear Now. Your Hear Now eligibility must be determined before you order hearing aids or you will be charged full fee.
