About Us
The Purpose of the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation is to increase the capacity of children and adults with speech, language and hearing impairments to reach their optimum levels of independent communication and social interaction. The Foundation’s Mission is to offer diagnostic and therapeutic services, to the greatest degree possible, in relation to a client’s ability to pay.
The Foundation’s community-based clinic is at 535 West Roosevelt, just North of LSU. A satellite clinic is located at 8393 Florida Blvd. in Denham Springs. Services are also offered in community agencies such as day care centers, private/parochial schools, senior centers and, for Early Steps clients, in their homes. The agency serves children and adults from the Greater Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area, including all ten parishes served by Capital Area United Way.
Founded by the Baton Rouge Junior League and Quota International of Baton Rouge in 1960, the Foundation eagerly anticipates the celebration of its upcoming 50th anniversary of service.
A copy of the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation’s IRS Form 990 (non-profit tax return) is available to the public for review at the Foundation office or on-line at http://www.guidestar.org. Any individual seeking to review the statement in person should call the Foundation’s accounting office at 225-343-4232 to arrange a time to do so.
